Amanda Simonton, MSN, RN, PMHNP-BC

Psychiatric Health Nurse Practitioner

Amanda is a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, licensed and trained to treat behavioral health concerns across the lifespan. She received her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing and Masters of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas at Austin. Additionally, she is currently completing her PhD at UT Austin. Her clinical and research focus is to improve recovery for individuals with substance use disorders, particularly those with opioid use disorder.

Amanda brings the philosophy that every individual has a light and strength within themselves that can be cultivated through a holistic approach to enhance mental wellbeing. To help her clients achieve their emotional and mental health goals she places high importance on the partnership between herself and her clients. Through this partnership, she explores the unique characteristics of the individual’s emotional landscape and their lives. She believes understanding the context from which the individual is seeking care will enhance her ability to address the client’s goals with effective, compassionate, mental health interventions.

Amanda utilizes evidence-based care and best-practices in the field of psychiatry and psychology. Her therapeutic techniques are derived from mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, motivational interviewing, and cognitive behavioral therapy. Additionally, she strives to promote holistic care through exercise, meditation, and nutrition, in combination with medication management. She hopes through her partnership with her clients she can enhance their awareness of their light and strength and build the skills they need to create emotional stability and wellbeing in their lives.
