Effectiveness of Medication-Assisted Therapy
Medication-assisted therapy has proven to be an effective element of opioid use disorder care. Data from the National Institute on Drug Abuse indicates that Vivitrol and Suboxone are similarly effective in treating opioid use disorder. However, because naltrexone requires full detoxification, initiating treatment among active is often more difficult with this medication.
Medication-assisted therapy works by providing a lower dose of approved opioid-based drugs to repair neuropathways, allowing patients’ brains to heal while they work toward recovery. CARMAhealth provides a comprehensive medical assessment to ensure that patients are safe and eligible candidates for the therapy. The Suboxone and Vivitrol administration process is overseen and gradually curtailed under the guidance of the prescribing medical professional until the drug is no longer needed.
