Project Description

Primary Medical Care for Addiction

The disease of addiction persists even after patients complete their treatment programs. The residual medical issues associated with prolonged and untreated drug and alcohol abuse need ongoing comprehensive care. Individuals with substance use disorders need access to healthcare like everyone else, but their care should also respect the unique challenges of managing addiction and recovery. CARMAhealth offers primary medical care for addiction, including preventative care and treatment of acute concerns like the common cold while providing chronic disease management for diabetes, hepatitis C, hypertension, and other health concerns. We offer a full array of medical treatment services, including but not limited to:

  • Chronic Medical Management
  • STD Testing and Treatment
  • Dietary Consultation

  • Minor Office Procedures
  • Ambulatory/Outpatient Detoxification
  • Well-Woman Examinations

We believe that every person dealing with the aftermath of substance use disorder should have quality medical care.

The Role of Proper Medical Care in Long-Term Relapse Prevention

The National Institute on Drug Abuse reports that relapse rates for substance use disorder are between 40 and 60 percent, and other estimates have reported rates much higher than this. One of the primary drivers of these setbacks is the clinical disconnect that patients encounter when it comes time for them to get the care that they need for the lingering medical issues and withdrawal symptoms related to their drug or alcohol abuse. It can be incredibly difficult for individuals to thrive and rebuild their lives in recovery if they don’t have access to proper healthcare resources. CARMAhealth’s full scope of treatment services ensures seamless integration of quality primary medical care for addiction.
