Whole-Person Care, Grounded in Experience
Lorie Kmetz is a Family Medicine Nurse Practitioner providing primary care and medication-assisted treatment at CARMAhealth. A Central Texas native, she earned her Master of Science in Nursing from The University of Texas at Austin with honors and is board-certified in Family Medicine through the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and in Addiction Medicine through the Addictions Nursing Certification Board.
Before joining CARMAhealth, Lorie spent seven years as a registered nurse in oncology settings, serving patients in both inpatient and outpatient roles. She also worked as a Clinical Nurse Navigator, coordinating care for oncology patients who often faced concurrent mental health and substance use challenges. That experience and the mental health challenges faced by her own family shaped her commitment to whole-person care and drew her to behavioral health.
Lorie also earned a Master in Public Health at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, focused on substance use disorders and health policy. In addition to her clinical role, she is Director of Clinical Quality and heads CARMAhealth's Be Well Texas program for uninsured patients with substance use disorders. She is fluent in English and Spanish.
