Your First Visit

A Conversation, Not a Checklist

Your first appointment at CARMAhealth is a psychiatric evaluation led by a board-certified psychiatrist or psychiatric nurse practitioner. It typically lasts 60 to 90 minutes. Your practitioner will ask about your symptoms, medical history, family history, and treatment goals. This is your time to share what you have been experiencing and what you hope to achieve. There is no rush, and you do not need to have everything figured out before you arrive. By the end of your visit, you will have a clear picture of where you stand and a personalized treatment plan, which may include medication management, TMS therapy, ketamine therapy, or telehealth follow-ups.

Flexible Care

Options That Fit Your Life

CARMAhealth offers in-person appointments at our Central Austin and Dripping Springs locations in Texas, as well as Coral Springs, Florida. If getting to the office is a barrier, telehealth visits are available for patients in Texas and Florida.

After your first visit, you can manage prescriptions, message your practitioner, and schedule follow-ups through the CARMAhealth Patient Portal. Follow-up appointments are typically 15 to 30 minutes and can be conducted in person or by video.

Your mental health records are protected under HIPAA, with additional safeguards for psychotherapy notes. Under the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act, your insurance plan is required to cover mental health services at the same level as medical and surgical care.
